As a result, education has changed dramatically, with a marked increase in popularity in online learning taking place remotely and on digital platforms, whether for convenience, to fit work hours, or simply to have the ability to study from anywhere. In contemporary society, online learning is a trend because it helps people to reduce the breakout of Coronavirus by allowing students to study at home.
The thesis mainly discusses about the impact of online learning on one hundred students in the Faculty of Foreign Language at IUH. In order to conduct the research effectively, I applied a quantitative method. Questionaires were used to begin the research as well as to get and collect the direct opinions of 100 fourth-year students. More importantly, all the data were analyzed by using Microsoft Excel.
This research explores the common benefits in online learning including keeping students safe during COVID-19, bringing the ability to study at home, reducing financial cost, helping students to develop technology skills. In contrast, there are also different challenges in online learning which are faced by many students such as the shortage of face-to-face communication with teachers, teachers' feedback is limited, the fewer interactions with other students. Moreover, the study also discovered some recommendations of students for the lecturers to improve the challenges for students in online learning including creating social media groups and online forums, offering tutorials or online demonstrations and personalized support for students before starting online class, creating active activities and providing some mini test during the online learning process. Not only does the virus's rate of spread and transmission patterns pose a threat to our daily lives and health, but the safety precautions put in place to restrict the virus's spread also necessitate social separation. In response to the pandemic, and in an effort to minimize the rate of new infections, social distancing policies were put into place by the government of every country in the world to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, including the government of Vietnam. Non-essential businesses, such as gyms, workout centers, coffee shops and movie theaters, that posed a high risk of transmission were also shut down. These rules restrict people’s daily activities all across the countries to stay safe at home, including learning activities of Vienamese students.
Students who were formerly active in schools or clubs were suddenly forced to stay at home. Alternatives to face-to-face teaching and learning are being adopted by the majority of educational systems. During school closures to keep students safe at home and prevent the spread of the virus, online learning has proven to be a valuable tool for continuing education. Online learning may be a sub-optimal substitute for face-to-face education but it has become a trend in contemporary society because it can help people to reduce the outbreak of Coronavirus.
During the pandemic time in Vietnam, the Faculty of Foreign Language at IUH had to change offline classes to online ones in order for the students to catch up their learning process on time. Online education provides a myriad of benefits for students because it provides flexibility such as it allows students to study at home, reduce financial cost, and improve time management. It is clear that there are numerous advantages to choosing online education or an online classroom for pupils. However, there are also different challenges which are faced by students while trying to study in an online classroom including the lack of face-to-face communication of lecturers and peers, the limitation of feedback, the lack of interaction during the learning process.

What are the challenges of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic? What are some suggestions for the lecturer to improve the challenges in online learning? 1.4 Scope of the study: There are many difficulties in online learning from all students at IUH; however, with a limited amount of time, the researcher just only concentrates on the final-year English majored students at IUH in online learning. Definitions of key terms and concepts: 2.1 The impact of COVID-19 on education: In contemporary society, people around the world are dealing with unpredictable challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has claimed the lives of millions of people. The COVID-19 pandemic has stolen many lives around the world and poses an unprecedented threat to public health, food systems, and occupational safety. The pandemic has caused severe economic and social devastation. To contain the epidemic and slow the spread of COVID-19, many countries have announced restrictive measures such as lockdown, shelter in place, or remain at home orders.
According to Chriscaden (2020), nearly half of the world's 3.3 billion workers are at risk of losing their jobs, and many are unable to feed themselves and their families due to a lack of income during lockdowns. For most people, no money means no food, or at the very least, less food that is less nutritious.COVID-19 impacted negatively on a variety of industries throughout the world, especially in the education sector.
