The thesis outlined the position of credit quality of small and medium enterprises at BIDV - Thanh Xuan Investment Joint Stock Bank during the research period from 2015 to 2020 by demonstrating each specific target. Various positive aspects such as loan balances for SMEs customers are growing at a steady speed. On the contrary, there are some limitations, such as the growth rate in unpaid debts, which makes it challenging for branches to regulate lending efficiency, and wasn't highly associated throughout the bank's business force, which is also partly due to increased targets. The thesis makes comments on the scenario of credit quality of small and medium enterprises of Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam - BIDV Thanh Xuan Branch from 2015 to 2020 by analyzing indicators based on primary and substituted data, therefore providing proposaIR and solutions to enhance the quality of credit for small and medium enterprises, such as retaining the credit process, applying and strengthening professional ability, credit officer ethics, effective policies for businesses, and other solutions are also some of the alternatives.
The necessity of the study In today's world, the financial market is trending through integration and widening, which is a particularly vital factor of the economy - the System of Vietnam Commercial Bank has developed extremely comprehensively over the last 25 years, adhering to the country's socio-economic development goals in each period. In addition to implement new products and services such as financial consulting, insurance, and e-banking, many commercial banks intend to prioritize the consolidation and advancement of bank credit operations, investing both in intensity and broadly to assure that the market is sustained and extended in the future. Bank credit activities contribute not only to the creation of stable capital and profits for banks, but also to the expansion of the market, productivity improvements, and sustainability of operations. Credit growth was at its lowest level in recent years (12,13%) by 2020, as a result of the covid-19 pandemic, which reduced credit demand.
However, it provided a great recovery in the fourth quarter, owing to positive market information from vaccines.1: Credit growth of commercial banks in 2020 Unit: % 14 12.4 | , MM: Quarter I/2020 R Quarter II/2020 a Quarter III/2020 Quarter IV/2020 2020 (Source: Summary of Commercial Banks, reported by BSC 2020) Recently, most commercial banks in Vietnam have aimed at developing credit activities, 13 especially credit for small and medium-sized entreprises, since the number and total size of all these types of businesses are becoming particularly crucial in the country's enterprise structure.
