32 vi ABSTRACT Almost every student nowadays has access to the Internet. The Internet is becoming increasingly popular as a tool for students to use for learning, research, and entertainment, etc. This study aims to find out the current state of using the internet for learning of English-majored students at Vietnam National University of Agriculture. This study was carried out using a questionnaire with 14 questions to ask students about their purposes, duration, frequency and contents of their internet access.

According to the survey results, all students stated that the Internet is important to them. This allows us to observe the effects of Internet use in the lives of students and evaluate the factors influencing their Internet use. vii PART 1: INTRODUCTION 1. RATIONALE FOR THE STUDY In recent years, people have witnessed dramatic changes in the media, one of the leading services today is the Internet.

It is an indispensable means of humanity, a service "fast, compact, convenient", not only that, the Internet has been penetrating almost every field from economics, politics, culture, society and all human activities belonging to all classes of society, especially students' learning. The benefits that the Internet brings to students is great: It helps them to have extensive insights in all fields, update information in the fastest way, be convenient in the learning process and bring results high. The Internet is a huge source of information in which all knowledge in all fields is available to help students if they know how to choose and receive information. It is also a factor that promotes the exchange of learning information and social knowledge.

In addition, the Internet also helps relieve stress and stress in studying, has more joy, confidence in life can meet and talk to relatives, friends from far away, make friends. With many people not only in the country but also extending around the world, creating relationships that give these people more opportunities to work after graduation. Nowadays, In the context of globalization with the remarkable development of science and technology, many communication technology services are born to meet the needs of people. One of the current leading means of mass communication is the Internet.

The strong development of the internet system has contributed to the rapid integration of our Vietnamese people into the world and become " International citizens are "equal on social networks. According to the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), our country is proud to have an internet penetration rate of 35.6% as of 1 November 2012. The number of internet users in our country has increased significantly in the past 10 years from 2.1 million in 2003 to 31.1 million by the end of 2012. According to a report from We Are social, as of March 2015, there are 41 million internet users Equivalent to 41% of the population.

Today, with the help of the Internet, the world of information and communications is now on the screen of a computer or a smartphone. The Internet has crept into every lane. the niche of human life, strongly impacting on human life using many different aspects, has become indispensable in social, economic, and security development. In the latest report of marketers shows that in Vietnam the number of online visitors is between 15 and 24 years old.

How is Internet use related to today's young people? Especially students of a particular social population group, are young intellectuals in society, they are the most active and sensitive to the development of technology as well as the Internet. Internet to study for English language students at Vietnam National University Of Agriculture is also necessary to build students a good study path. So the research topic is: "The current status of using the internet in the learning of English majored students at Vietnam National University Of Agriculture ". AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY 1.

Aims of the study This study aims to find out the current state of internet use of English- majored students at Vietnam National University of Agriculture. Objectives of the study To investigate the current state of English-majored students’ internet use: (their purposes, time, place, means, frequency of their internet access. To make some suggestions to help students use the Internet more effectively. RESEARCH QUESTIONS How do English-majored students at the Vietnam University of Agriculture use the internet? What suggestions for students’ use of the Internet can be made? 1.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY Subject of study: Activities of using the internet of English language students at the Vietnam National University of Agriculture Participants of study: Students majoring in English at Vietnam National University of Agriculture. Scope of study: 100 students including 25 K62 students, 25 K63 students, 25 K64 students, 25 K65 students Scope of space: Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) Time: 7 /2021 1. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY The research contributes to understanding the current state of using the internet for learning of English -majored students at VNUA, from which there are practical perceptions to help students, faculties, and students of other language disciplines, families make appropriate adjustments for students use the internet more efficiently. DESIGN OF THE STUDY Design of the study Apart from abstracts, references & appendices, the study consists of three main parts: PART 1 - INTRODUCTION presents the rationale of the study, aims, and objectives of the study, research questions, the scope as well as the significance of the study.

PART 2 - DEVELOPMENT is divided into 3 chapters: Chapter 1 - LITERATURE REVIEW looks into the previous studies related to Internet use in Vietnam and abroad. It also provides theoretical foundation for this research including the definition, the uses, the role of the Internet, and the relationship between university students and the Internet. Chapter 2 – METHODOLOGY describes the methodology used in the research including data collection instruments (a survey questionnaire), participants, data collecting procedures and data analysis. Chapter 3 - FINDINGS AND DISCUSSIONS - reports and discusses the findings of the study.
