Advisor(s): Assoc Prof. Nguyễn Phương Mai 4. Abstract (300 words or less): In recent years, the concept of green entrepreneurship has gained momentum globally as a sustainable approach to economic development.
Vietnam, with its youthful demographic profile and growing environmental concerns, presents an intriguing context for examining the drivers and barriers to green. This study aims to explore factors affecting the green entrepreneurial intention (GEI) of Vietnamese young people. We collected data from a sample of 150 young respondents from 16 to 30 years old in Vietnam. SPSS was used to analyze the data.
The study employed Partial Least Squares – SEM analysis to predict GEI. The results imply that environmental values significantly influence young Vietnamese individuals' interest in green entrepreneurship. Those with strong environmental values are particularly inclined towards environmentally friendly business practices. Entrepreneurship education also plays a vital role in shaping green attitudes and behaviors among students with high environmental values, thus fostering an increased intention to engage in green business ventures.

Data & Methodology We have collected a large amount of online survey data from many people aged 16 to 30 in Vietnam.
The sample size the team obtained was 150 valid questionnaires. We analyzed the data using the PLS-SEM method with SmartPLS version 26. Results & Discussions - Environmental Value positively influences Attitude Toward Green Entrepreneurship. - Educational Support positively influences Attitude Toward Green Entrepreneurship.
- Educational Support positively influences Perceived Behavioural Control. - Attitude Toward Green Entrepreneurship positively influences Green Entrepreneurial Intention among Vietnamese young people. - Perceived behavioral control positively influences Green Entrepreneurial Intention among Vietnamese young people. 9 - Subjective norms do not influence green entrepreneurial intention among Vietnamese young people.
Conclusion & Recommendations Factors have a positive and significant impact on green startup intention. People with high environmental values will be very interested in environmentally friendly business practices. The intention to start a green business will increase if young people already have positive attitudes and awareness of environmental protection behavior. Furthermore, the findings of our study indicate that TPB can predict and clarify green entrepreneurial intention.

One of the main drivers of a green economy is green entrepreneurship (Ahmad et al.
Green entrepreneurship is entrepreneurial activities that create economic value and environmental value by producing environmentally friendly goods and services (Jabarzadeh et al. With Vietnam emerging as a dynamic player in the global economy and confronting its environmental concerns (R Cecere, P Bernardi 2022), understanding the factors that shape the green entrepreneurial intentions of its youth is paramount for fostering sustainable development. This research embarks on a comprehensive exploration of the multifaceted influences on the green entrepreneurial intentions of Vietnamese young people, drawing upon empirical evidence and theoretical frameworks to illuminate this critical nexus. The impetus for investigating this phenomenon stems from the recognition of the pivotal role that entrepreneurship, particularly of the environmentally-conscious variety, plays in driving economic growth and environmental stewardship simultaneously.
Notably, Vietnam's youth cohort, characterized by its dynamism and increasing exposure to global trends, presents a promising demographic for catalyzing green entrepreneurial ventures. According to a survey by Nielsen (2021) released in the conference "Brand strategy associated with green development", 45% of global respondents are willing to pay more for environmentally friendly products, 41% are willing to pay more for environmentally friendly packaging, etc. Vietnamese consumers in the 4.0 era are no exception to the above trend. Along with that, according to DARA (2020), climate change can cost Vietnam about 15 billion USD per year, equivalent to about 5% of GDP.
If Vietnam does not have a timely response solution, damage from climate change is estimated to reach 11% of GDP by 2030. They are increasingly interested in green food, green services and green businesses. This research contributes to the scholarly discourse by offering a nuanced examination of the factors influencing green entrepreneurial intentions among Vietnamese young people. By synthesizing empirical evidence and theoretical frameworks, this study 11 aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics at play in shaping youth engagement in environmentally conscious entrepreneurship.
Moreover, the findings of this research hold practical implications for policymakers and stakeholders seeking to leverage the potential of Vietnam's youth demographic in driving sustainable development through entrepreneurial innovation. Through collaborative efforts and targeted interventions informed by the insights gleaned from this study, Vietnam can harness the entrepreneurial spirit of its youth toward building a greener and more prosperous future. 12 CHAPTER 1: LITERATURE REVIEW 1. Related basic concepts In this section, the fundamental concepts related to the research topic of "Factors Influencing Green Entrepreneurial Intention of Vietnamese Young People" will be expounded upon.
Specifically, the focus will be on defining “Entrepreneurship”, "Green Entrepreneurial" and "Green Entrepreneurial Intention". Entrepreneurship Entrepreneurship can be defined as an individual's intention to start a new business. Several models have been developed to explain the scientific basis of entrepreneurial intention. One of the earliest models is the event theory of entrepreneurship by Shapero and Sokol (1982), which is conceptually similar to the theory of planned behavior by Ajzen (1991).
These intention-based models aim to explain entrepreneurial intentions and better understand subsequent behavior. According to Shapero and Sokol (1982), entrepreneurial intention depends on the perception of personal desire, feasibility, and action tendency. Perceived desirability refers to the degree to which an individual feels attracted to becoming an entrepreneur and reflects their interest in entrepreneurial behavior. It encompasses the individual's motivation, passion, and interest in pursuing entrepreneurial activities.
On the other hand, perceived feasibility relates to the individual's confidence in their ability to start their own business and the belief that becoming an entrepreneur is a feasible option. It takes into account factors such as the individual's perceived skills, knowledge, resources, and external support available for entrepreneurship. Furthermore, the concept of entrepreneurship extends beyond just starting new ventures. It also includes proactive behavior within existing businesses or established individuals.
This idea is captured by Schumpeter (1934) in his concept of "creative 13 destruction," where entrepreneurs constantly strive to improve their economic position through innovative behavior. Entrepreneurship involves actively searching for new business models, products, and opportunities for growth. In the context of startups, Miller (2011) suggests that they engage in product-market innovation, undertake somewhat risky projects, and are often the first to introduce proactive innovations that outpace their competitors. Startups typically display a commitment to starting a new business and are driven by a desire to bring new ideas, products, or services to the market.
Overall, the intention to engage in entrepreneurship is influenced by factors such as personal desire, feasibility, and the perceived attractiveness of entrepreneurial behavior. These factors shape an individual's motivation and confidence in pursuing entrepreneurial activities, whether through starting new ventures or engaging in proactive behavior within existing businesses. Green entrepreneurship The ‘going green’ concept has received considerable attention from scholars in the entrepreneurship domain (Bergset & Fichter, 2015). Past studies have explored the significant role of green entrepreneurship in promoting energy efficiency (Drago & Gatto, 2022) and economic and social development (Neumann, 2022).
Based on their study of green entrepreneurship practices in Ghana, Amankwah and Sesen (2021) state that there is a certain relationship between entrepreneurship education, green EI, and green entrepreneurship behaviour. Yi (2021) also evidences that university and external institutional supports contribute to promoting green EI to become green entrepreneurship behaviour. Few empirical studies have focused on identifying factors that promote green EI. Koe et al.
