Students have the right to challenge any enrollment restriction in accordance with Policy 2260, titled Pre-Requisites, Co-Requisites and Advisories. No student is required to confer or consult with or required to receive permission to enroll in any class offered by the District, except as provided for in Administrative Procedure 3052, titled Open Enrollment. Students are not required to participate in any pre-registration activities not uniformly required, and no registration procedures are used that result in restricting enrollment to a specialized clientele. 1 7 SONEPPM 9/8/2021 Over-Subscribed Enrollment Priority Once students satisfy the admissions criteria to over-subscribed programs, enrollment priority shall be determined according to the legal residence of applicants in the following order: 1. Residents of the Riverside Community College District who have completed a minimum of a 3 unit academic course in the Riverside Community College District. Residents of the Riverside Community College District. Residents of other community college districts within Riverside County which do not present similar courses or programs.

Residents of California community college districts outside Riverside County. Residents of areas outside of California. NOTE: Pursuant to legislation, Associate Degree in Nursing programs are exempt from non-evaluative selection criteria. All interested students are encouraged to attend a Pre-Nursing Information Workshop offered through School of Nursing (SON) and meet with a Health-Related Science Counselor and/or Nursing Educational Advisor. Submit an application to the RCC. Applicants must maintain a current RCC application on file while awaiting admission to the SON. Prospective students can obtain an application online and submit the completed application to the SON during the specified Application Period.

Applicants must have all transcripts on file and evaluated from non-RCCD institutions at the time of admission. Completed applications will be ranked according to the selection procedure established by the nursing faculty and Nursing Enrollment Committee as designated on the ADN (RN) and Concurrent Enrollment Program Information Sheets. Notification of admission will be sent to qualified applicants according to procedures and spaces available. Once accepted to the SON, it is the applicant’s responsibility to accept or decline their space by the designated deadline.

Applicants who do not respond by the deadline will forfeit their admission to the SON. Any student who declines a space will be required to resubmit an application for admission during the next application filing period. Completed applications will be randomly selected according to the selection procedure established by the nursing faculty and Nursing Enrollment Committee as designated on the VN Program Information Sheet. Notification of admission will be sent to qualified applicants according to procedures and spaces available. Once accepted to the SON, it is the applicant’s responsibility to accept or decline their space by the designated deadline.

Applicants who do not respond by the deadline will forfeit their admission to the SON. Any student who declines a space will be required to resubmit an application for admission during the next application filing period. Deferred enrollment may be granted on an individual basis upon approval by the Dean and/or Nursing Enrollment Committee. Applicants who accept a space in Nursing 52, 61, 62, 63, and/or 71 will be required to sign the Vocational Nursing Program Completion Contract.

All interested students are encouraged to attend a Pre-Nursing Information Workshop offered through School of Nursing (SON) and meet with a Health-Related Science Counselor and/or Nursing Educational Advisor. Submit an application to the RCC. Applicants must maintain a current RCC application on file while awaiting admission to the SON.

Prospective students can obtain an application online and submit the completed application to the SON during the specified Application Period. Admission is based on a first come, first serve basis upon the completion and submission of the pre-program checklist to the Nursing Enrollment and Evaluation Specialist as outlined on the NATP Information Sheet. If the prerequisite course is in progress outside of RCCD, validation of enrollment and progress must be submitted to the Nursing Enrollment and Evaluation Specialist.

As soon as the in progress perquisite course is completed, the final grade must be submitted to the Nursing Enrollment and Evaluation Specialist as soon as its available. Applicants with courses in progress will have lower priority than those applicants whose prerequisite courses are complete by the end of the application period. Deferred enrollment will be granted ONE TIME ONLY. RCC Extenuating Circumstance Petition (ECP), according to college policy, will be reviewed by the Enrollment Committee. Failure to accept an offer of enrollment after a deferral was approved, will be considered as a ONE TIME ONLY readmission. Therefore, the student’s priority for future admissions will be according to the Prioritization of Readmission /Transfer/Advanced Placement Candidates policy.
