Hồ Chí Minh, tháng 02/2024 II ABSTRACT In the 4.0 era, online reviews are widespread in the information interfaces that customers use, and the use of reviews from purchasers, KOLs, and celebrities as a source of customer reference material is fast growing and becoming a trend. However, there is presently relatively little study on the role of review credibility in the online purchase process, as well as the characteristics that contribute to establishing a credible review in the eyes of consumers, and the influence on customers’ adaptive usage of online reviews.
As a result, in this research, authors attempt to explain changes in customers' online purchase intentions after taking into account the trustworthiness of an online review and the moderating impact of negative review in this relationship. Furthermore, our research revealed that argument quality and peripheral cues are two major characteristics that strongly influence the credibility of an online review and user review adoption on e-commerce platforms, particularly Shopee. In addition, for products with high product/service ratings and the reliability of many reviews, low negative reviews have little impact on consumers' purchasing intentions, whereas for products with lower product/service ratings and a lower level of negative reviews, the consumer's purchasing intention decreases. This article helps consumers make more informed decisions when detecting an online review as well as facing false information, and is a reference for marketers deciding how to promote products.
Reasonable products in specific situations and help optimize the online review monitoring mechanism in e-commerse like Shopee. Keywords: argument quality, negative review, purchase intention, review credibility. Ill TABLE OF CONTENTS ABSTRACT. Il TABLE OF CONTENTS.

Research overview With the popularity and expansion of the Internet, online shopping, which eliminates time and location constraints, has become a vital consumption mode for modern people (Emec el al., 2016), and it is increasingly appreciated by worldwide consumers. In this environment, online reviews, have developed as a new communication route that is gaining popularity among citizens. As a sort of online word-of-mouth, online reviews allow customers to connect with merchants and offer feedback to other customers (Filieri el al.
Numerous studies have found that internet reviews have a significant impact on product sales and consumer decision-making (Floyd et al. Online reviews not only increase the presence of previous purchasers and foster a sense of affinity for consumers through word of mouth (Gefen & Straub, 2004), but they also provide product-related information that helps improve value perception and merchant reputation, influencing online purchase intention and actual buyback behavior (Martinsons, 2008). Today, internet reviews are among the most powerful sources of information for customers when making a purchase choice (Chevalier and Mayzlin, 2006; Lee and Shin, 2014), and they give several benefits (Hamby el al., 2015; Krishnamoorthy, 2015; Zhang et al., 2014; Zheng et al. Most significantly, they let geographically separated customers to communicate independent perspectives on products and services, enabling them to make more educated purchasing decisions (Racherla et al.
Furthermore, internet reviews have the potential to provide significant value for businesses. As a source of product and service enhancement, they may generate revenue and develop long-term partnerships, playing an important role in organizations' marketing efforts (Chang et al. In recent years, scholars and practitioners have focused on the rising popularity and advantages of online reviews (Cheung el al. Online purchase is limited to match customers' demands for product assessment and comprehension through intuitive senses including scent, hearing, and touch (Lee et al.
Consumers cannot properly grasp product performance, quality, and usage if they 2 depend just on merchants' one-sided opinions. Previous research suggests that information created by consumers, such as online reviews, is more persuasive than information created by marketers, because consumers don’t have vested interest and thus are more independent and credible (Park et al., 2007; Plotkina and Munzel, 2016; Reimer and Benkenstein, 2016). Furthermore, past research indicates that perceived trustworthiness influences customers' decision-making processes and lowers uncertainty (Awad and Ragowsky, 2008; Fan et al., 2013; Nan et al. According to Baek et al.
293), trustworthiness is "the most important factor in adoption". For this reason, the trustworthiness of internet reviews appears to be critical when making purchasing decisions based on them. Given the significance of credibility in the context of online reviews and subsequent purchase decisions, it is understandable that review credibility is of tremendous interest to both consumers and marketers. However, the current public debate about fraudulent internet reviews has raised consumer awareness of the issue, calling their reliability into doubt (Munzel, 2016; Smith and Anderson, 2016).
Some firms, for example, engage in deceptive techniques and falsify online evaluations of their products and services in order to influence consumers' buying behavior. Research Rationale Although a significant number of studies on online reviews have examined the influence of online reviews on consumers' attitudes toward products and services, this has been done in a rather general manner, primarily without taking into account the factors of online reviews that influence consumers' purchase intentions (Chu and Kamal, 2008; Doh and Hwang, 2009; Floyd et al., 2014; Lee et al., 2008; Martin and Lueg, 2013; Sen and Lerman, 2007). To address this research vacuum, this study investigates the factors that influence consumers’ perceived trustworthiness of online reviews, review adoption, and the impact on their purchase intentions. In doing so, it expands on past research methodologies by displaying the underlying causal chain in greater depth, exposing the critical levers for raising customers' purchase intentions in this setting.
3 Today, reviews are becoming a key measure and factor in customers' purchasing decisions. However, along with that is the rapid growth of fake and negative reviews to defame competitors or boost sales. To combat this trend started by such bucket shop, it is critical for trustworthy companies to understand how consumers perceive and evaluate the credibility of online reviews, particularly what factors determine the reliability of reviews from the consumer's perspective. Despite the enormous importance of review credibility, particularly in relation to consumer purchasing decisions, and the increasing focus of researchers and practitioners on online reviews, there has been little research on the credibility of eWOM communication in general, and of online reviews and their ratings and determinants in particular (Teng et al.
Researchers discovered that fake/negalive reviews frequently exhibit features such as repeated reviews, identical content, a long release time, or low product relevancy. Consumers frequently utilize different in languages to detect negative reviews, combining personal experiences, third-party evaluations, and regulatory alerts (Chatterjee et al., 2021; Salminen et al. However, there is still debate over the impact of bad evaluations on consumer behavior. According to some experts, false reviews enhance buyers' hesitation about purchasing; the more bogus reviews, the less likely consumers are to buy the goods (Zhao et al.
Others noted that too many negative reviews might leave indications of manipulation that customers can detect, leading up in a consumer trust problem (Reimer & Benkenstein, 2016). Others argue that because customers are logical, fraudulent evaluations may not have an enormous effect on their selections in some situations (Dellarocas, 2006). The occurrence of such disagreements may be linked to the purchasing choice situation. So, authors want to investigate the way negative reviews moderate their behavior from the view point of customers.
Research Objectives The goal of our research is to explore the types of supplier external and buyer internal factors that impact customers' trust in online reviews as well as their review adoption. Second, this article examines the correlation between review credibility and 4 adaptive purchases based on reading review responses from predecessors. Third, combined with the Vietnamese context, the moderating role of negative review bias in the interaction of reviews to understand the difference in the impact of trustworthy online reviews on purchase intention, consumer online products. Very few studies have paid attention to fake reviews as a moderator of the impact between online reviews and online purchasing behavior, especially related to false reviews on e-commerce platforms.
Therefore, based on the related literature, this article explores the interactive effects of fake reviews and brand awareness on online purchases, which expands the field's application scope of this study. To achieve the stated objective, this research is conducted to answer the following questions: 1. How do review credibility and review adoption impact customer purchase intention in the Shopee? 2. How do argument quality and peripheral cues influence the trustworthyness of online review? 3.
What recommendations can be proposed for businesses to limit the negative effects of negative review to increase purchase intention and for customer to detect false information in terms of online review? 4. Research Methodology The research is officially carried out by quantitative methods through two phrases: (1) Phrase 1: Adjust and complete the research model and to build a questionnaire about the factors affecting online review credibility and the purchase intention. All scales have a 5-point Likert format and are anchored at "1" for strongly disagreeing and "5" for strongly agreeing. Accuracy, Opposing viewpoints, Timeless, Visual Image Quality, Review Quantity, Product/Service Rating, Source Credibility, Review Credibility, Review Adoption, Negative Review and Purchase Intention scales are all measured separately, in specific.
(2) Phrase 2: Collect, analyze survey data and test the model. In the qualitative study, authors conducted a sample size survey of 447 young people in Ho Chi Minh City 5 (including 177 men and 270 women participating in the survey, accounting for 39. This age group is due to being the age of the young- and sensitivity with technology, who tend to use online reviews as a source of credibility before making a buying decision and are affected by it the most.
