I. Giới thiệu

Bài nghiên cứu này nhằm mục đích xác định những thách thức từ vựng mà sinh viên năm cuối ngành Tiếng Anh Thương mại tại Trường Đại học Kinh tế Quốc dân thường gặp phải khi dịch các thuật ngữ ngoại giao từ tiếng Anh sang tiếng Việt. Thách thức trong dịch thuật không chỉ liên quan đến việc tìm kiếm từ tương đương mà còn bao gồm việc hiểu rõ ngữ cảnh và ý nghĩa chính xác của thuật ngữ trong ngôn ngữ đích. Nghiên cứu sử dụng phương pháp thu thập dữ liệu qua bảng hỏi với 100 sinh viên để phân tích và xử lý thông tin. Kết quả cho thấy sinh viên gặp khó khăn trong việc xác định thuật ngữ phù hợp, hiểu ngữ cảnh sử dụng và truyền đạt ý nghĩa chính xác trong ngôn ngữ đích.

1.1. Mục tiêu nghiên cứu

Mục tiêu chính của nghiên cứu là phân tích những thách thức ngôn ngữ mà sinh viên gặp phải trong thực hành dịch thuật. Nghiên cứu cũng đưa ra một số giải pháp thực tiễn nhằm giúp sinh viên vượt qua những khó khăn này. Việc hiểu rõ thuật ngữ ngoại giao và cách sử dụng chúng trong các tài liệu ngoại giao là rất quan trọng để đảm bảo sự giao tiếp hiệu quả giữa các quốc gia. Nghiên cứu này không chỉ giúp sinh viên nâng cao kỹ năng dịch thuật mà còn mở rộng cơ hội việc làm trong lĩnh vực ngoại giao.

II. Khung lý thuyết

Khung lý thuyết của nghiên cứu tập trung vào các khái niệm cơ bản về dịch thuật và vai trò của ngôn ngữ trong ngoại giao. Ngôn ngữ học và dịch thuật là hai lĩnh vực có mối liên hệ chặt chẽ, đặc biệt trong việc dịch các thuật ngữ chuyên ngành. Nghiên cứu chỉ ra rằng việc dịch thuật không chỉ đơn thuần là chuyển đổi từ ngôn ngữ này sang ngôn ngữ khác mà còn bao gồm việc hiểu và truyền đạt các giá trị văn hóa và ngữ nghĩa. Các thuật ngữ ngoại giao thường mang tính chất đặc thù và yêu cầu người dịch phải có kiến thức sâu rộng về ngữ cảnh và văn hóa của cả hai ngôn ngữ.

Nghiên cứu phân loại các phương pháp dịch thuật thành nhiều loại khác nhau, bao gồm dịch nghĩa, dịch sát nghĩa và dịch tự do. Mỗi phương pháp có ưu điểm và nhược điểm riêng, và việc lựa chọn phương pháp phù hợp phụ thuộc vào ngữ cảnh và mục đích của bản dịch. III. Kết quả và thảo luận

Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy sinh viên năm cuối gặp nhiều khó khăn trong việc dịch các thuật ngữ ngoại giao. Các vấn đề chính bao gồm việc tìm kiếm từ tương đương, hiểu ngữ cảnh và truyền đạt ý nghĩa chính xác. Nghiên cứu cũng chỉ ra rằng sinh viên thường sử dụng các nguồn tài liệu khác nhau để tìm hiểu về ngữ cảnh văn hóa của các thuật ngữ này. Việc thiếu kinh nghiệm và kiến thức chuyên sâu về ngôn ngữ học và thuật ngữ ngoại giao là nguyên nhân chính dẫn đến những khó khăn này. IV. Khuyến nghị

Dựa trên kết quả nghiên cứu, một số khuyến nghị đã được đưa ra nhằm cải thiện chất lượng đào tạo dịch thuật cho sinh viên năm cuối. Đầu tiên, cần tăng cường các khóa học về ngôn ngữ học và thuật ngữ ngoại giao trong chương trình học. Thứ hai, sinh viên nên được khuyến khích tham gia các hoạt động thực hành dịch thuật thực tế để nâng cao kỹ năng. Cuối cùng, việc tạo ra một môi trường học tập thân thiện và chuyên nghiệp sẽ giúp sinh viên tự tin hơn trong việc áp dụng kiến thức vào thực tiễn.

4.1. Tăng cường đào tạo

Đào tạo dịch thuật cần được chú trọng hơn trong chương trình học tại các trường đại học. Việc cung cấp các khóa học chuyên sâu về dịch thuật và ngôn ngữ học sẽ giúp sinh viên nắm vững kiến thức cần thiết để đối mặt với các thách thức trong dịch thuật. Tran Ba Manh Dung - 11191220 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This study tries to identify a number of key difficulties that fourth-year students at the National Economics University face on a regular basis while translating English diplomatic terms into Vietnamese for use in diplomatic documents. The objectives of this study are to analyse the challenges students typically have when translating certain diplomatic terminology and to present a variety of practical techniques collected from credible sources and personal experience to assist students with their concerns. To address two research issues, the study employs the data gathering method and the comparative approach. This study employs a questionnaire on 100 seniors majoring in Business English at NEU to perform statistics and process the data for research purposes using the data collection method, which is based on the research and acquired data.

According to the findings of the study, BE students face a number of challenges when translating diplomatic terms in diplomacy documents, including locating the appropriate equivalent term in the target language, comprehending the context in which the term is used, and conveying the term's precise meaning in the target language. Rationale English has taken on an increasingly vital role in the modern world because it is the language most commonly used for international communication.

It is the language spoken in the worlds of commerce, science, and technology as well as the media and entertainment industries. English has developed into the lingua franca of the globe, or the common language that people from all walks of life use to interact with one another. Due to the growing number of publications imported by multinational corporations, English has become increasingly important in the field of translation in recent years. This means that a translator must have a strong command of both their native language and English in order to accurately translate documents from one language to another.

This involves not only an in-depth comprehension of both languages, but also an awareness of the cultural nuances that are at risk of being misunderstood if the translation is not handled appropriately. Diplomacy documents are important tools used in international relations to facilitate communication between different nations and cultures. These documents are usually drafted in the official language(s) of the involved countries, which can be a barrier to effective communication if not understood by all parties involved. This is where translation comes in.

In diplomacy, the use of specific and precise language is crucial to ensuring that all parties have a clear and accurate understanding of the issues at hand, as well as the intended meaning of any agreements or declarations made. This precision can be lost in translation if the meaning of diplomatic terms is not properly conveyed. Translating diplomatic terms is essential in facilitating effective communication in diplomacy. Doing so ensures that all parties have a common understanding of the issues being discussed, and that there is no confusion or misinterpretation of the 1 Tran Ba Manh Dung - 11191220 intended meaning.

It helps to prevent misunderstandings and disputes, and contributes to maintaining positive and productive relationships between nations. In Vietnam, there has a great deal of universities providing translation courses in their education programs, and NEU is one of those.

However, Business English’s seniors may face a number of challenges when translating specific diplomatic terms in diplomacy documents, particularly in terms of understanding the context and nuances of the language used. Additionally, due to the specialized nature of many diplomatic terms, there can be significant difficulty in understanding their meaning and usage within the context of diplomacy documents. This research aims to explore some of these challenges and discuss how BE’s seniors can best navigate them in order to ensure accurate translations, which has to be looked into. Many studies have been conducted on the topic of translation, the vast majority of which have focused on the challenges of the translation process in an effort to find solutions and thereby improve the quality of translated texts.

Purposes This study has two specific objectives as following: e Firstly, analyze the linguistic challenges that were actually present in the translation practice they were encountering e Secondly, make some suggestions as to how these challenges might be conquered so that students can acquire a greater breadth and depth of professional knowledge and skills, hence enhancing their opportunities for employment, particularly in this field. Scope of the study The study only focuses on the linguistic difficulties, which belong to lexicon and structure in translating diplomatic terms in diplomacy documents of the 4th year students majoring in Business English at NEU University.

The study is carried out to investigate main linguistic difficulties in translation in terms of diplomacy field, and to suggest some solutions to help students overcome the current situation. Only students who have taken Translation Theory I and H at NEU University will be eligible to participate in the study, and only these students will be able to use the findings. The study does not contain a comprehensive evaluation of the use of diplomatic terms in diverse contexts except in diplomacy documents. Research method In order to answer two research questions, the data collection method and comparative method would be used.

With the data collection method, based on the research and collected data, this study use a questionnaire on 100 seniors majoring in Business English at NEU University to conduct statistics, and process the data to address research purposes. The comparative approach is a research technique used to compare two or more groups or variables. In this study, the translation solutions completed by students will be compared. In addition, it will require translation homework from the students in order to better analyse the data acquired through the questionnaire.
