From the analysis of the company's internal and external situation, future prospects and valuation results to provide reasonable recommendations to investors who are interested in the stock of these companies. With the result of macroeconomic analysis, the world economy in 2020 is expected to continue slowing down in 2020 due to significant impact of coronavirus. Besides, trade war between the USA and China and the reduced level of concern regarding a potentially disorderly withdrawal of the UK from the EU also have effects on the economy, which will decrease the growth of this industry. Following the company analysis, we see that General Motors Company and Bayerischer Motoren Werke Aktiengesellscharf have a good performce in terms of their financial statements and equally their shares prices, although their profit had a decrease in 2019 due to a bad situation of the economy.
Daimler had a low growth in revenues, but a sharply decline in net profit. Ford appears to be in financial distress as its financial ratios show a worsening financial position and a high risk of bankcruptcy. The intrinsic values of the four companies are estimated by applying the valuation by 2 multiples ratios and discounted cash slow model. In particular, the target price of General Motors Company, Ford Motor Company, Daimler AG, and Bayerischer Motoren Werke Aktiengesellscharf are $36.
Combining all analyses, recommendations are made for each stock. 3 TABLE OF CONTENTS CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION. 1 CHAPTER 2: MACROECONOMIC ANALYSIS .1 World economic outlook for 2019 .2 The US Economy .2 Key macroeconomic factors analysis .2 Key macroeconomic factors analysis.4 Asia – Pacific Economy .2 Key macroeconomic factors analysis. 24 CHAPTER 3: INDUSTRY ANALYSIS .2 Porter’s Five Forces Analysis .1 Threat of new entrants: Weak .2 Bargaining power of suppliers: Weak.3 Bargaining power of buyers: Moderately strong .4 Threats of substitutes: Weak .5 Competitive Rivalry in the industry: Very strong.

This is largely due to the fact that the automobile industry shares certain similarities with other large industries, such as the electrical and apparel industries where foreign direct investment (FDI), global production and international trade are significant influences (T. Sturgeon et al. This industry is principally an oligopolistic market; therefore competitive advantage is a key strategic objective for all major players in the industry (Williamson et al. Since the automobile industry is largely homogenous, there are common trends in the market that directly or indirectly affect most organizations (Williamson et al.
Great potential for growth has been identified in markets like India, Brazil and China due to the availability of low cost skilled labor. This encourages an increased flow of FDI into such countries and facilitates trade liberalization through World Trade Organization (WTO) (T. Sturgeon et al. Along with Global integration organizations are also integrating themselves regionally due to dispersion of final assembly plants in various countries (Molnar, 2009).
Another changing attribute in the industry is the alteration of the supply chain due to higher technical dependence on the suppliers. In contrast to the tier based 2 supply chain, now suppliers are vertically integrating to handle complex subsystems (Molnar, 2009).2 Area of the study This research will analyze the business performance and assess the instrinsic values of the four leading leading companies in the automotive market, namely Daimler AG, General Motors Company, Ford Motor Company, and Bayerishche Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft. Global trade stagnated, leading to a slowdown in economic activity in most major economies.
Although the world has recorded progress towards the end of the year, uncertainty is still present, threatening the 2020 outlook. The US-China trade war is considered the biggest destabilizing factor for the demand economy. The trade war between the two countries has erupted since the beginning of 2018.
