I. Khái Niệm Về Chuyển Tác Và Ngữ Pháp Chức Năng Hệ Thống

Chuyển tác (transitivity) là một khái niệm quan trọng trong ngữ pháp chức năng hệ thống (Systemic Functional Grammar - SFG), được phát triển bởi Michael Halliday. Đây là một hệ thống ngôn ngữ cho phép chúng ta phân tích cách thể hiện ý nghĩa của câu văn thông qua các quá trình, tham gia viên và hoàn cảnh. Chuyển tác không chỉ đơn thuần là một hiện tượng ngữ pháp mà còn là một công cụ phân tích để hiểu sâu sắc về cấu trúc và ý nghĩa của văn bản. Trong ngữ pháp chức năng, chuyển tác được xem như một phương tiện để thể hiện các quá trình, hành động và sự kiện trong thế giới thực thông qua ngôn ngữ.

1.1. Định Nghĩa Chuyển Tác Trong Ngữ Pháp Chức Năng

Chuyển tác là hệ thống biểu thị cách thức mà những sự kiện, hành động được mô tả trong ngôn ngữ. Nó được cấu thành từ ba yếu tố chính: quá trình (process), tham gia viên (participant) và hoàn cảnh (circumstance). Mỗi mệnh đề trong câu văn đều thể hiện một quá trình cụ thể, với các tham gia viên tham gia vào quá trình đó. Hệ thống này giúp chúng ta nhận biết các loại quá trình khác nhau như quá trình vật chất, tinh thần, quan hệ, hành vi và tồn tại.

1.2. Vai Trò Của Ngữ Pháp Chức Năng Hệ Thống Trong Phân Tích Văn Bản

SFG cung cấp một khuôn khổ phân tích toàn diện để hiểu cách các tác giả sử dụng ngôn ngữ để truyền tải ý nghĩa. Trong bối cảnh phân tích văn học, ngữ pháp chức năng giúp chúng ta khám phá những lựa chọn ngữ pháp của tác giả, từ đó hiểu sâu hơn về ý định sáng tác và thông điệp của tác phẩm. Phương pháp này đặc biệt hữu ích trong việc phân tích truyện ngắn và các văn bản văn học khác.

II. Cấu Trúc Hệ Thống Chuyển Tác Và Các Loại Quá Trình

Hệ thống chuyển tác được chia thành các loại quá trình khác nhau, mỗi loại đại diện cho một cách thức cụ thể để thể hiện hành động hoặc sự kiện. Các loại quá trình chính bao gồm: quá trình vật chất (material process), quá trình tinh thần (mental process), quá trình quan hệ (relational process), quá trình hành vi (behavioral process), quá trình tồn tại (existential process) và quá trình ngôn ngữ (verbal process). Mỗi loại quá trình có những tham gia viên và hoàn cảnh riêng biệt, phản ánh các khía cạnh khác nhau của thực tại. Sự phân loại này giúp các nhà phân tích văn bản hiểu rõ hơn về cách tác giả mô tả và diễn đạt các sự kiện.

2.1. Quá Trình Vật Chất Và Quá Trình Tinh Thần

Quá trình vật chất mô tả các hành động thực tế, những điều xảy ra trong thế giới vật lý với các tham gia viên như tác nhân (actor) và đối tượng (goal). Ngược lại, quá trình tinh thần thể hiện các hoạt động của tâm trí như cảm xúc, nhận thức, ý muốn với những tham gia viên như người cảm nhận (senser) và hiện tượng (phenomenon). Sự phân biệt này rất quan trọng trong phân tích tác phẩm văn học.

2.2. Quá Trình Quan Hệ Và Các Loại Quá Trình Khác

Quá trình quan hệ dùng để thiết lập mối liên hệ giữa các yếu tố trong câu, bao gồm loại định danh (identifying) và loại tính chất (attributive). Các loại quá trình khác như quá trình tồn tại và quá trình hành vi đóng vai trò bổ sung trong hệ thống chuyển tác, giúp người phân tích nắm bắt toàn bộ phạm vi cách thức thể hiện ý nghĩa trong ngôn ngữ.

III. Phân Tích Chuyển Tác Trong Truyện Ngắn The Nightingale and the Rose

Truyện ngắn 'The Nightingale and the Rose' của Oscar Wilde là một tác phẩm văn học nổi tiếng, lý tưởng để áp dụng phân tích chuyển tác từ góc độ ngữ pháp chức năng hệ thống. Trong tác phẩm này, các loại quá trình khác nhau được sử dụng để tạo dựng hình ảnh, xây dựng cốt truyện và truyền tải thông điệp đạo đức. Phân tích chuyển tác từ góc độ ngữ pháp chức năng hệ thống cung cấp một phương pháp hiệu quả để khám phá những lớp ý nghĩa sâu sâc trong các tác phẩm văn học. Thông qua việc xác định các loại quá trình, tham gia viên và hoàn cảnh, chúng ta không chỉ hiểu được cấu trúc ngữ pháp mà còn nắm bắt được ý định sáng tác của tác giả. Với sự phát triển này, ngữ pháp chức năng sẽ tiếp tục là một công cụ quan trọng trong phân tích ngôn ngữ và văn bản.

Rationale Of all possible human qualities, the one that wields the most power is the ability to use, understand and communicate effectively through language. A proficient use of language allows us to communicate an cxacl idea from ene person lo another person or group of peaple. We can use language to let others know how we feel, what we need, and even ask queslions. Clearly, language carmot be separated from human life.

Being aware of the importance of language, many well-known linguists have studied the way the language is structured. We usually call this grammar There are many ways of describing the grammar of language. If pre-twentieth centuries approach represents traditional grammar, most twentieth-century approaches are varieties of formal grammar and functional grammar The main thing that traditional grammar set out to teach was the parts of speech, or word classes: noun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction and so on (Cope, 1993). However, according lo Chrislic (1981), it will be a “jail” when teaching traditional grammar Cor the students, because the teachers will be bound to teaching language structure without any reference to the learmng context (cited in Cope, 1993).

Like traditional grammar, formal grammar specifies all the possible grammatical structures ofa language. It viewed grammar as set of rules and focused on forms of grammatical structures and. (heir relationships to one another. Through this period of teaching both types of grammar, some linguists were thinking to generate one more developed grammar which is systemic fimctional grammar (Halliday et al, cited in Cope, 1993).

Many approaches to linguistics foous entirely on the purely structural characteristics of language, and ignore the possible functions of language.
