I. Tổng Quan Về Cảm Thán Trong Tiểu Thuyết và Dịch Thuật

Bài viết này tập trung phân tích cách biểu hiện cảm thán trong tiểu thuyết "Nếu Còn Có Ngày Mai" của Sidney Sheldon và bản dịch tiếng Việt. Mục tiêu là làm rõ những đặc điểm ngôn ngữ độc đáo, cách chúng được sử dụng để truyền tải cảm xúc nhân vật, và những thách thức trong việc dịch thuật các biểu thức cảm xúc này. Việc nghiên cứu này không chỉ có ý nghĩa về mặt học thuật mà còn giúp người đọc hiểu sâu hơn về phong cách viết của Sidney Sheldon và nghệ thuật dịch văn học. Cảm thán trong tiểu thuyết đóng vai trò quan trọng trong việc tạo nên sự hấp dẫn và chân thực của câu chuyện, giúp độc giả đồng cảm với nhân vật và trải nghiệm thế giới truyện một cách sống động hơn. 1.1. Giới Thiệu Chung Về Tiểu Thuyết Nếu Còn Có Ngày Mai

"Nếu Còn Có Ngày Mai" là một trong những tác phẩm nổi tiếng nhất của Sidney Sheldon, nổi tiếng với cốt truyện hấp dẫn, nhân vật phức tạp và những tình tiết bất ngờ. Tiểu thuyết này không chỉ là một câu chuyện giải trí mà còn là một bức tranh về xã hội, về những khát vọng và đấu tranh của con người. Việc phân tích ngôn ngữ nhân vật trong tiểu thuyết giúp ta hiểu rõ hơn về tính cách, động cơ và mối quan hệ của họ. Biểu đạt cảm xúc nhân vật là một yếu tố quan trọng trong việc xây dựng nhân vật và tạo nên sự kết nối với độc giả.

1.2. Tầm Quan Trọng Của Biểu Hiện Cảm Xúc Trong Văn Học Dịch

Dịch văn học, đặc biệt là việc dịch cách biểu hiện cảm thán, đòi hỏi sự tinh tế và am hiểu sâu sắc về cả hai ngôn ngữ và văn hóa. Người dịch không chỉ cần truyền tải chính xác nghĩa của từ ngữ mà còn phải tái tạo được cảm xúc và phong cách của tác giả. Việc dịch từ ngữ biểu cảm một cách hiệu quả có thể tạo ra sự khác biệt lớn trong trải nghiệm đọc của độc giả. So sánh bản gốc và bản dịch giúp ta đánh giá được mức độ thành công của người dịch trong việc truyền tải tinh thần của tác phẩm.

II. Thách Thức Dịch Cảm Thán Ngôn Ngữ Cảm Xúc Đa Dạng

Một trong những thách thức lớn nhất trong việc dịch cảm thán trong tiểu thuyết là sự khác biệt về ngôn ngữ cảm xúc giữa tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt. Mỗi ngôn ngữ có những cách diễn đạt cảm xúc riêng, và việc tìm ra những tương đương phù hợp có thể rất khó khăn. Ngoài ra, phong cách viết Sidney Sheldon thường sử dụng những cấu trúc câu đặc biệt và từ ngữ mạnh mẽ để tạo ra hiệu ứng cảm xúc, điều này càng làm tăng thêm độ khó cho người dịch. Việc hiểu rõ hiệu quả biểu đạt của cảm thán trong bản gốc là rất quan trọng để có thể tái tạo chúng một cách chính xác trong bản dịch.

2.1. Sự Khác Biệt Văn Hóa Trong Biểu Hiện Cảm Xúc

Văn hóa đóng vai trò quan trọng trong việc hình thành cách chúng ta biểu hiện cảm xúc. Những gì được coi là phù hợp hoặc không phù hợp trong một nền văn hóa có thể khác biệt hoàn toàn so với nền văn hóa khác. Điều này có nghĩa là người dịch cần phải cẩn trọng để tránh việc dịch một cách máy móc, mà phải điều chỉnh để phù hợp với văn hóa của người đọc mục tiêu. Cách dịch cảm thán cần phải đảm bảo rằng cảm xúc được truyền tải một cách tự nhiên và dễ hiểu đối với độc giả Việt Nam.

2.2. Vấn Đề Về Cấu Trúc Câu Cảm Thán Trong Dịch Thuật

Cấu trúc câu cảm thán trong tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt có những điểm khác biệt đáng kể. Tiếng Anh thường sử dụng các từ như "What" và "How" để tạo ra câu cảm thán, trong khi tiếng Việt có nhiều cách diễn đạt khác nhau, sử dụng các từ như "Ôi", "Chao", "Trời ơi", v.v. Người dịch cần phải linh hoạt trong việc chuyển đổi giữa các cấu trúc này để đảm bảo rằng ý nghĩa và cảm xúc được truyền tải một cách chính xác. Phân tích ngôn ngữ tiểu thuyết giúp người dịch hiểu rõ hơn về cách tác giả sử dụng ngôn ngữ để tạo ra hiệu ứng cảm xúc.

III. Phân Tích Cách Biểu Hiện Cảm Thán Của Sidney Sheldon

Phong cách viết Sidney Sheldon nổi tiếng với việc sử dụng ngôn ngữ mạnh mẽ và trực tiếp để tạo ra hiệu ứng cảm xúc. Ông thường sử dụng các câu cảm thán để tăng cường sự kịch tính và hấp dẫn của câu chuyện. Việc phân tích cách sử dụng cảm thán của Sidney Sheldon giúp ta hiểu rõ hơn về phong cách viết độc đáo của ông và cách ông sử dụng ngôn ngữ để tạo ra sự kết nối với độc giả. 4.1. Lựa Chọn Từ Ngữ Biểu Cảm Tương Đương Trong Tiếng Việt

Việc lựa chọn từ ngữ biểu cảm tương đương trong tiếng Việt là một trong những thách thức lớn nhất trong việc dịch cảm thán. Người dịch cần phải tìm ra những từ ngữ có thể truyền tải được cảm xúc tương tự như trong bản gốc, đồng thời phải phù hợp với văn hóa và ngữ cảnh của câu chuyện. Cách dịch cảm thán cần phải đảm bảo rằng cảm xúc được truyền tải một cách tự nhiên và dễ hiểu đối với độc giả Việt Nam.

4.2. Điều Chỉnh Cấu Trúc Câu Để Phù Hợp Với Ngữ Pháp Tiếng Việt

Việc điều chỉnh cấu trúc câu để phù hợp với ngữ pháp tiếng Việt là một yếu tố quan trọng trong việc dịch cảm thán. Người dịch cần phải linh hoạt trong việc chuyển đổi giữa các cấu trúc câu để đảm bảo rằng ý nghĩa và cảm xúc được truyền tải một cách chính xác. 5.1. Đào Tạo Dịch Giả Chuyên Nghiệp Về Ngôn Ngữ Cảm Xúc

Việc đào tạo dịch giả chuyên nghiệp về ngôn ngữ cảm xúc là rất quan trọng để nâng cao chất lượng văn học dịch. Các khóa đào tạo cần tập trung vào việc giúp dịch giả hiểu rõ hơn về những khác biệt văn hóa trong biểu hiện cảm xúc và cách sử dụng ngôn ngữ để tạo ra hiệu ứng cảm xúc. Cách dịch cảm thán cần được giảng dạy một cách chi tiết và cụ thể.

5.2. Xây Dựng Ngân Hàng Dữ Liệu Về Từ Ngữ Biểu Cảm Trong Dịch Thuật

Việc xây dựng ngân hàng dữ liệu về từ ngữ biểu cảm trong dịch thuật có thể giúp dịch giả tìm kiếm và lựa chọn những từ ngữ phù hợp một cách nhanh chóng và dễ dàng. Ngân hàng dữ liệu này cần bao gồm các ví dụ cụ thể về cách sử dụng từ ngữ biểu cảm trong các tác phẩm văn học đã được dịch. VI. Kết Luận Tầm Quan Trọng Của Cảm Thán Trong Văn Học

Nghiên cứu này đã cung cấp một cái nhìn tổng quan về những thách thức và phương pháp dịch cảm thán hiệu quả, và hy vọng sẽ góp phần nâng cao chất lượng văn học dịch trong tương lai. Biểu hiện cảm xúc trong văn học là một lĩnh vực nghiên cứu quan trọng và cần được quan tâm hơn nữa.

6.1. Hướng Nghiên Cứu Tiếp Theo Về Biểu Hiện Cảm Xúc Trong Văn Học

Các nghiên cứu tiếp theo có thể tập trung vào việc phân tích biểu hiện cảm xúc trong văn học của các tác giả khác nhau, hoặc so sánh cách dịch cảm thán trong các ngôn ngữ khác nhau. Ngoài ra, cũng có thể nghiên cứu về tác động của cảm thán đến trải nghiệm đọc của độc giả. Nghiên cứu tiểu thuyết là một lĩnh vực rộng lớn và đầy tiềm năng.

6.2. Đề Xuất Giải Pháp Dịch Thuật Cảm Thán Tối Ưu

Cần có những nghiên cứu sâu hơn về các giải pháp dịch thuật cảm thán tối ưu, bao gồm việc sử dụng các công cụ hỗ trợ dịch thuật và các phương pháp dịch sáng tạo. Việc chia sẻ kinh nghiệm và kiến thức giữa các dịch giả cũng rất quan trọng để nâng cao chất lượng dịch thuật. Cách dịch cảm thán cần được cải tiến liên tục để đáp ứng nhu cầu của độc giả.

4 ABSTRACT This study investigates the syntactic features and expression exclamations in English and its Vietnamese equicalent in the novel “If tomorrow comes”. It is conducted with the hope of finding out the similarities and differences between how exclamations are formed in both languages and suggesting practical applications to the learning and teaching of English as a foreign language in Vietnam. The methods used in this study are descriptive and comparative methods. Data used for analysis in this study were mainly collected from the novel “If tomorrow comes” by Shidney Seldom.

Moreover, the students‟ attitudes towards the learning of English exclamations with reference to Vietnamese as well as how to enhance the effectiveness in teaching, learning as well as translating English and Vietnamese exclamations is also paid attention to. This introductory chapter provides a detailed description of the problem the thesis attempts to solve, states the aims of the study and presents an overview of the thesis.1 Rationale English is regarded as the most common language for information and idea interchange between many nations and cultures, along with the growth of human language.

To fulfill the demand for global economic integration and cultural exchange with other nations, the necessity to learn English is becoming more and more pressing. Undoubtedly, both Vietnamese and foreigners want to learn English as a natural language; nonetheless, they frequently encounter several obstacles that prohibit them from engaging in fruitful talks. Exclamations are used and understood differently by different people, which is one of the causes of these issues. In our culture, exclamation points are unavoidably common.

And we know that both English and Vietnamese people have thoughts and emotion in common. They also have different tone of emotion such as anger, joy, happiness, sadness, surprise, fear, despair, disgust, etc. However, the ways of expressing it out are different. One can use gestures to show their attitude or feeling because gestures are specific body movements that carry meaning.

While the others express their emotions and attitude through facial expressions. For instance: our eyes soften or look thoughtful to show our interest or the pupil can become small because we are angry or it can become large if we are excited. It is said that the eyes are the window of the soul. Through the eyes we can feel the emotion, states of another people.

But the most basic and important means is language. It is easy to recognize the other’s feelings or attitude through their utterances. People use language to express their shock, surprise, fear, anger, admiration. These utterances are called exclamations.

Exclamation is one of the 9 sentence types and it attracts much attention from researchers in English as well as in Vietnamese. In English, there are many authors studying sentences including exclamations such as Quirk, R. et al (1972 & 1985), Bolinger, D. Moving on Vietnamese linguistists, we cannot but mention Nguyễn Kim Thản (1963), Nguyễn Thiện Giáp (1997 & 2008), Cao Xuân Hạo (1998), Diệp Quang Ban (2004) & (2008), Nguyễn Thị Lương (2005), etc.

All of these books could be used as the valuable references of this thesis. However, there has been so far no research into exclamations in terms of syntax in details in both languages. Moreover, practically, learners often make confusion in using exclamations both in English and Vietnamese. Because they have syntactic forms that look like statements or question but their usages are quite different.

So we decided to choose the topic “Exclamation expressions in the novel If tomorrow comes by Sydney Sheldom and its Vietnamese translation equivalents ” to find out the similarities and differences of exclamations in terms of syntax and meanings between two languages.2 Aims and objectives of the research The aim of the study is to point out the similarities and differences of exclamations in English and their Vietnamese translation versions in the novel “ If tomorrow comes” in terms of their syntatic features and their expressions to help the learners of English master this kind of sentence effectively in the process of learning English. There are two objectives for this study: - To describe the syntactic features and expressions of English exclamations in the novel "If tomorrow comes" and their Vietnamese translation versions. -To compare exclamations in English and their Vietnamese translation versions in the novel “If tomorrow comes” in terms of their syntatic features and their expressions. What are exclamations in English and their Vietnamese translation versions in terms of syntactic and semantic features? 10 2.What are the similarities and differences between exclamations in the novel “If tomorrow comes” and their Vietnamese translation versions in term of syntactic features and their expressions? 1.4 Scope of the research The exclamations are collected from the novel "If tomorrow comes,"by Sidney Sheldon.

The number of data are 248 exclamations in English and Vietnamese translation version. The exclamations in English and their Vietnamese translation versions are compared and contrasted in term of syntactic and semantic features. Methods of the study Two main methods are used in their study. Firstly, descriptive method is used to describe syntactic features.

Secondly, comparative method is used to point out the similarities and differences between English exclamations and their Vietnamese equivalent in the novel “If tomorrow comes”. In addition, the collective and analysis and methods are also used in this study The data collection is the most important step in any research. This procedure consists of three main stages. Firstly, a large number of exclamations in English and Vietnamese were collected in the novel in order to make the corpus of this thesis.

Secondly, the collection of grammatical books and related literature were done to hold up the Chapter II. Books on grammar, syntax, semantics, and stylistic means are used for the need to set the theoretical basic for this thesis to be carried out. In this study, from 248 exclamations taken from the novel If tomorrow comes, we chose the most interesting and noticeable ones which can clearly illustrate a number of syntactic and semantic points under our investigation. They are analyzed in terms of syntax, semantics of English and Vietnamese exclamations in the novel and then compared and contrasted in order to find out the similarities and differences between them, which helps the researcher suggest some implications to learning and teaching English exclamation.

Significance of the research Theoretically, the thesis will contribute the theoretical background of studying English exclamations. Practically, this study could help learners have a deeper 11 understanding about syntactic and semantic features of exclamations in English and Vietnamese. It helps improve the methods of teaching and learning English exclamations in terms of exclamation syntax and meanings.7 Design of the study This thesis will be provided in four chapters, beginning with an introduction in which we explain the background of the study, its aims, methods, and conclusions. The second chapter, titled Literature Review, covers the theoretical foundation used as tools for carrying out the entire research as well as a critical analysis of the prior studies that have been related to the thesis.

The third method shows the syntax and expressions of exclamations in the novel and point out their similarities and differences. The review of results and recommendations, which logically led to conclusions, are all included in the fourth chapter. References come at the end of the study. 12 CHAPTER II: LITERATURE REVIEW This chapter of the study explores the key theoretical concerns surrounding exclamations in general and English exclamations in relation to Vietnamese in the book in particular.

The debate tries to provide theoretical groundwork on which to base Vietnamese references to English exclamation in speech or writing. The following topics are the main emphasis of this chapter: Review of prior studies, theoretical foundation, and theoretical framework are the first three components. In order to accomplish the aims, the author focuses on the history of word classes, sentences in general, and exclamation in particular. There will be a quick overview of the latter as well.1 Previous Studies Overseas Exclamations are a phrase that gets linguistics' attention a lot.
