I. Cách thể hiện tương lai trong văn học

Trong văn học tiếng Anh, tương lai thường được thể hiện qua các cấu trúc ngữ pháp và từ vựng khác nhau. Các tác phẩm văn học sử dụng nhiều cách để diễn đạt tương lai, từ các động từ khuyết thiếu như 'will' đến các cấu trúc phức tạp hơn như 'be going to'. Việc phân tích các cách thể hiện này không chỉ giúp hiểu rõ hơn về ngữ nghĩa mà còn về phong cách viết của tác giả. Ví dụ, trong tác phẩm 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix', tác giả J.K. Rowling thường sử dụng cấu trúc 'will' để thể hiện các hành động trong tương lai, điều này không chỉ tạo ra sự chắc chắn mà còn thể hiện sự kỳ vọng của nhân vật. Sự khác biệt trong cách thể hiện tương lai giữa tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt cũng là một điểm đáng chú ý, khi tiếng Việt thường sử dụng từ 'sẽ' để diễn đạt tương lai, điều này có thể dẫn đến những hiểu lầm trong quá trình dịch thuật.

1.1. Các cấu trúc ngữ pháp thể hiện tương lai

Các cấu trúc ngữ pháp trong tiếng Anh để diễn đạt tương lai rất đa dạng. Cấu trúc phổ biến nhất là sử dụng động từ khuyết thiếu 'will', nhưng cũng có thể sử dụng 'shall' trong một số ngữ cảnh trang trọng hơn. Ngoài ra, 'be going to' cũng là một cách phổ biến để diễn đạt dự định hoặc kế hoạch trong tương lai. Việc sử dụng các cấu trúc này không chỉ phụ thuộc vào ngữ cảnh mà còn vào phong cách viết của tác giả. Trong khi đó, tiếng Việt thường sử dụng từ 'sẽ' để thể hiện tương lai, điều này có thể gây khó khăn cho người học khi chuyển ngữ từ tiếng Anh sang tiếng Việt. Sự khác biệt này không chỉ nằm ở ngữ pháp mà còn ở cách mà các ngôn ngữ này thể hiện ý nghĩa tương lai trong văn học.

II. Bản dịch tiếng Việt và những thách thức

Việc dịch các tác phẩm văn học từ tiếng Anh sang tiếng Việt không chỉ đơn thuần là chuyển đổi ngôn ngữ mà còn là một quá trình phức tạp liên quan đến việc giữ nguyên ý nghĩa và cảm xúc của tác phẩm. Các cách thể hiện tương lai trong tiếng Anh có thể không có tương đương trực tiếp trong tiếng Việt, điều này tạo ra những thách thức lớn cho người dịch. Chẳng hạn, khi dịch các câu có chứa 'will', người dịch cần phải cân nhắc xem có nên sử dụng 'sẽ' hay không, và nếu có, thì cách sử dụng đó có phù hợp với ngữ cảnh hay không. Điều này đặc biệt quan trọng trong các tác phẩm văn học, nơi mà ngữ cảnh và cảm xúc của nhân vật có thể thay đổi ý nghĩa của câu. Việc hiểu rõ các cách thể hiện tương lai trong cả hai ngôn ngữ sẽ giúp người dịch có được những lựa chọn chính xác hơn trong quá trình dịch.

2.1. Những khó khăn trong việc dịch tương lai

Một trong những khó khăn lớn nhất trong việc dịch các cấu trúc thể hiện tương lai là sự khác biệt trong cách mà hai ngôn ngữ này diễn đạt ý nghĩa tương lai. Trong tiếng Anh, các cấu trúc như 'will' và 'be going to' có thể mang những sắc thái khác nhau, trong khi tiếng Việt thường chỉ sử dụng 'sẽ' để diễn đạt tương lai. Điều này có thể dẫn đến việc mất đi những sắc thái ý nghĩa trong quá trình dịch. Hơn nữa, các yếu tố văn hóa và ngữ cảnh cũng ảnh hưởng đến cách mà tương lai được thể hiện trong văn học. Do đó, người dịch cần phải có kiến thức sâu rộng về cả hai ngôn ngữ và văn hóa để có thể truyền tải chính xác ý nghĩa của tác phẩm.

III. Phân tích văn học và giá trị thực tiễn

Phân tích cách thể hiện tương lai trong văn học không chỉ giúp hiểu rõ hơn về ngôn ngữ mà còn mở ra những góc nhìn mới về văn hóa và tư duy của người viết. Việc so sánh các cách diễn đạt tương lai giữa tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt có thể giúp người học ngôn ngữ nhận thức rõ hơn về sự khác biệt trong cách tư duy và biểu đạt của hai nền văn hóa. Hơn nữa, nghiên cứu này còn có giá trị thực tiễn trong việc cải thiện kỹ năng dịch thuật và giao tiếp liên văn hóa. Bằng cách hiểu rõ hơn về cách mà các ngôn ngữ khác nhau thể hiện tương lai, người học có thể phát triển khả năng giao tiếp hiệu quả hơn trong môi trường đa ngôn ngữ.

3.1. Giá trị của việc nghiên cứu tương lai trong văn học

Nghiên cứu cách thể hiện tương lai trong văn học không chỉ có giá trị học thuật mà còn có ý nghĩa thực tiễn trong việc phát triển kỹ năng ngôn ngữ. Việc hiểu rõ các cấu trúc ngữ pháp và từ vựng liên quan đến tương lai sẽ giúp người học có thể giao tiếp một cách tự tin và chính xác hơn. Hơn nữa, việc phân tích các tác phẩm văn học cũng giúp người học nhận thức được sự phong phú và đa dạng của ngôn ngữ, từ đó nâng cao khả năng tư duy phản biện và sáng tạo trong việc sử dụng ngôn ngữ.

7 ABSTRACT This study would like to indicate ways of expressing futurity in English and make a comparison with Vietnamese translation version. This research form ways of expressing futurity in English in the aspects of grammatical means and lexical means. The study points out the most dominant construction and mostly used by the writer of the literary work to express futurity. This research collects data from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

The results from statistical qualitative analysis can show the all constructions expressing futurity in English and their translation in Vietnamese version. This research applies qualitative research to make a statistic of collected data from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Its outcome shows common constructions expressing futurity in English. There are 7 ways extracted from academic English sources, the most popular construction is modal auxiliary Will.

In terms of grammatical means, construction modal auxiliaries make up the most percentage of grammatical means. To lexical means, hope, be sure, want are used more than others. Finally, major futurity expression in English after translated to Vietnamese, the principal constructions are hope (roughly translated as hy vọng, mong rằng in Vietnamese). Similarities of both languages about futurity express are semantic meaning of future shown by a combination of grammatical means and lexical means.

Section of differences are analyzed more detail in this paper. The study simultaneously indicates accompanied factors with futurity expression of characters' utterances. Furthermore, this research discovers that ways of expressing futurity are inherent in temporal concepts frequently through analysis of semantic meaning of grammatical and lexical employment. By identifying similarities and differences between languages, the research contributes to academic understanding and facilitates more accurate communication and translation.

Rationale Theoretically, English and Vietnamese have their ways of expressing future meaning, even these ways are shown more diversely in literature, based on the readers' view. The ways of futurity expression in English literature are shown by grammatical categories such as modal auxiliaries shall/will + infinitive or tenses (e.

present tense) that can be misleading to render in translation due to the language gap. While expressing the futurity meaning, Vietnamese often use the word "sẽ" linked preceding to verbs or even adjectives. Vietnamese learners can meet some challenges when learning and understanding English in the right way. Nguyen (2015) believes that if considered from the perspective of a learning process, language switching can help learners constantly select and reproduce input knowledge and language structures, etc.

There are a lot of factors which are able to the understanding language competencey. 13 To narrow the misleading or misunderstanding of meaning when reading English literature, our study carries out the research in one of seven famous fantasy novels named Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Moreover, specific to J. Rowling's work, the magical and fantastical elements present unique challenges in translation, where the conventional expressions of futurity might take on different connotations or be used in creative ways that are not commonly addressed in translation studies.

Events that are directly tied to the future, require insight and clear future direction, thus saying "will do" sounds simple but it can indicate more than that. The loss of fully understanding the future meaning is parallel to the misleading of the future expressions in Vietnamese based on semantic and syntactic features. On the other hand, there are numerous ways to describe the futurity in English, but they are not popular, and the in- depth research has nearly not covered in depth many concerns and features of comprehending the future tense. As a result, there is a lack of fundamental information, which leads to misinterpretation and challenges your ability to comprehend.

In addition to vocabulary like some previous studies mentioned above, this project delves into the comparisons of grammatical structure from the English language's point of view, which is subsequently applied to the counterparts in Vietnamese. Aims and objectives The primary aim of this research project is to conduct an in-depth analysis of the different structures and semantic nuances employed to express futurity in English, and to compare these with their corresponding expressions in Vietnamese. The central focus of the study is to gain a comprehensive understanding of how future events are communicated in both languages. This understanding is crucial for fostering precise and effective interlingual communication.

By achieving this, the study aims to serve as a valuable resource for learners, enhancing their ability to accurately and appropriately convey future-related concepts in English. 14 In order to gain the aim of the study, the following objective are put forward: - To list ways of expressing futurity in English - To list ways of expressing futurity in Vietnamese translation version - To compare the differences of two languages in the ways of expressing futurity 1. Methods of the study In this study, we adopt comparative and contrastive, statistical analysis methods to conduct this research.
