I. Tổng quan về robot Cartesian xếp bao thức ăn chăn nuôi

This graduation project focuses on the design and implementation of a Cartesian coordinate pick-and-place robot for handling animal feed bags with a capacity of 20 tons per hour.

The robot operates primarily on the X and Y axes using AC servo motors with a G (Rotation) axis control the direction of the bag, while a lifting mechanism supports vertical movement. A specially designed gripper is used to pick up feed bags from a lifting platform and transfer them to the designated position. The control system is implemented using a Mitsubishi Q Series PLC, which coordinates the motion of the servo motors through programmed sequences to achieve smooth and accurate positioning. The PLC system also integrates sensors and safety interlocks to ensure reliable operation.

The robot system has been applied and operated in the factory environment, demonstrating stable performance and meeting the required speed, accuracy, and payload specifications. The developed system contributes to automation of the packaging and material- handling process in animal feed production lines, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing human workload. Problem statement In the current industrial context, the demand for automation in production and packaging processes is increasing rapidly as businesses seek to improve productivity, consistency, and labor safety while reducing operational costs. In the animal feed manufacturing industry, most packaging and material-handling operations are still performed manually or semi-automatically.

These manual operations require significant labor, are time-consuming, and can lead to inconsistencies in product placement and safety risks for workers, especially in high-throughput production lines. According to industry reports, Vietnam’s animal feed production exceeds 20 million tons per year [1], with many factories operating continuously to meet demand. However, the reliance on human labor in bag-handling and palletizing stages creates production bottlenecks and limits scalability. To address this challenge, many factories have begun to adopt automated handling systems and robotic solutions to optimize throughput and minimize dependence on manual work.

Therefore, developing an automated pick-and-place robot system specifically designed for the feed packaging process is an essential step toward improving production efficiency and modernizing factory operations. Compared to fully manual or semi- automatic systems, an automated Cartesian robot provides better precision, faster cycle times, and safer operation in repetitive lifting tasks. This project aims to research, design, and implement such a system for practical application in an animal feed production environment. Project Objectives The main objective of this project is to design, fabricate, and implement an automated Cartesian coordinate pick-and-place robot for handling animal feed bags in a production line with a capacity of 20 tons per hour.

The robot system aims to automate the process of picking up finished feed bags from the lifting platform and transferring them to the designated position, thereby replacing manual labor and enhancing 8 production efficiency. Specific objectives of the project include:  Designing the mechanical structure of the robot frame, motion axes, and gripper to ensure sufficient strength, precision, and working range for industrial operation.  Developing the control logic to coordinate the robot’s movement across X and Y axes, as well as the lifting mechanism for accurate and smooth bag transfer.  Integrating sensors and safety functions to ensure reliable operation under factory conditions.

 Implementing a control system using an industrial PLC to manage automatic cycles and allow flexible parameter adjustment according to production requirements.  Testing and evaluating the system’s performance in real working conditions at the factory to ensure it meets the required throughput, accuracy, and safety standards. Through this project, the robot system is expected to contribute to the automation of the packaging and material-handling processes in animal feed production, reduce manual workload, and improve operational safety and consistency. Scope and Limitations This project focuses on the design, fabrication, and control of an automated Cartesian coordinate pick-and-place robot system integrated with a conveyor system and HMI interface for handling animal feed bags in an industrial production line.

The system is developed to automate the process of transferring finished feed bags from a lifting platform to the designated stacking position, aiming to improve productivity and reduce manual labor. Within the scope of this project, the following aspects are included: 9  Mechanical design and assembly of the Cartesian robot frame, motion axes, and gripper mechanism.  Development of the control system using a PLC to coordinate the robot’s motion and conveyor operation.  Integration of inverters (VFD) to control multiple conveyors motor speed for proper bag feeding and positioning.

 Design of an HMI interface for monitoring, manual control, and parameter adjustment of the system.  Installation and testing of the robot and conveyor system under real factory operating conditions to verify functionality and performance. The following aspects are beyond the scope of this project:  Optimization of robot motion trajectories for energy efficiency or minimum cycle time.  Implementation of advanced control algorithms such as adaptive, fuzzy, or vision-based control.

 Integration with higher-level factory automation systems (e., SCADA or MES).  Automated warehouse management beyond the defined working area of the robot. Research Methodology The implementation of this project is based on a combination of technical research, mechanical design, electrical system development, and on-site testing within an industrial environment. The methodology focuses on applying reliable and practical automation technologies to design an effective robotic handling system for animal feed bags.
