ABSTRACT This thesis presents research on the design of electric vehicle motion control using algorithms based on disturbance observers. A 14-DOF of a car is analyzed, including a 7-DOF vehicle ride model to study the vehicle’s suspension system, and a 7-DOF vehicle handing model to perform traction control problems and automatic lane change for cars.
All three directions of motion of the car are studied including vertical motion, longitudinal motion, and lateral motion. In terms of the vertical motion of the vehicle, the active suspension system using an electro-hydraulic servo actuator provides superior results when compared to the passive suspension system. The longitudinal motion of the vehicle body is divided into two main contents, including a control system of an IPMSM motor for one-wheel car models and driving force distribution combined with state observers for 4-wheel independent drive models. Different simulation methods include using Matlab/Simulink to simulate model-in-the-loop, using Matlab/Simulink combined with TI C2000 LaunchPad to simulate processor-in-the-loop, and using Co-Simulation between Matlab/Simulink and Carsim was researched to demonstrate the feasibility, efficiency, and robustness of the control system.
