Tóm tắt

I. Tổng Quan Khái Niệm Màu Cơ Bản Trong Ngôn Ngữ Anh Việt

Nghiên cứu về khái niệm màu sắc không chỉ giới hạn ở khía cạnh ngữ nghĩa đơn thuần. Ngôn ngữ học tri nhận mở ra một hướng tiếp cận sâu sắc hơn, khám phá mối liên hệ giữa ngôn ngữ, tư duy và văn hóa. Thế giới màu sắc đa dạng phản ánh những giá trị nhận thức và văn hóa đặc trưng của mỗi dân tộc. Nghiên cứu này đi sâu vào phân tích các màu cơ bản tiếng Anh và màu cơ bản tiếng Việt, khám phá những tương đồng và khác biệt trong cách chúng được tri nhận và sử dụng. Theo Vũ Phương Anh (2011), việc tìm hiểu khái niệm màu từ góc độ tri nhận giúp khám phá mối liên hệ giữa từ vựng màu sắc và các nguyên mẫu trong nhận thức của con người. Nghiên cứu này dựa trên luận điểm đó để phân tích các màu cơ bản.

1.1. Vai Trò của Văn Hóa trong Từ Vựng Màu Sắc

Các nghiên cứu trước đây thường bỏ qua yếu tố văn hóa trong việc xem xét mối liên hệ giữa từ vựng màu sắc tiếng Anh và từ vựng màu sắc tiếng Việt và cách sử dụng chúng. Tuy nhiên, văn hóa đóng vai trò quan trọng trong việc hình thành ý nghĩa và cách sử dụng từ vựng màu sắc. Các công trình nghiên cứu của Geiger (1869), Conklin (1955), Lakoff (1987) và Kay & Maffi (1999) đã nhấn mạnh vai trò của văn hóa trong việc nghiên cứu từ vựng màu sắc. Nghiên cứu này tiếp cận vấn đề theo hướng đó, xem xét biểu tượng màu sắc dưới góc độ văn hóa để làm rõ sự khác biệt trong cách người Anh và người Việt tri nhận màu cơ bản.

1.2. Tiếp Cận Ngữ Nghĩa và Tính Điển Dạng của Màu Sắc

Kövecses (1986) và Lucy (1992) đặt nền móng cho việc nghiên cứu tính điển dạng (prototypes) của màu sắc dựa trên các đặc điểm ngữ nghĩa của phạm trù màu. Tại Việt Nam, Hoàng Văn Hành (1982), Nguyễn Hoàng Phương Linh (2014) và Lê Phương Thảo (2018) so sánh giá trị ngữ nghĩa giữa từ vựng màu sắc tiếng Anh và từ vựng màu sắc tiếng Việt. Nghiên cứu này kế thừa những thành tựu đó, tập trung vào việc xác định các nguyên mẫu (prototypes) của màu cơ bản trong cả hai ngôn ngữ.

II. Thách Thức Trong Nghiên Cứu Ngôn Ngữ Học Tri Nhận Màu Sắc

Nghiên cứu ngôn ngữ học tri nhận màu sắc đối mặt với nhiều thách thức. Một trong số đó là việc xác định các yếu tố văn hóa ảnh hưởng đến ý nghĩa màu sắc. Mỗi nền văn hóa có những biểu tượng màu sắc riêng, dẫn đến sự khác biệt trong cách tri nhận và sử dụng màu sắc. Ngoài ra, việc phân tích tính điển dạng của màu sắc đòi hỏi sự kết hợp giữa phương pháp định tính và định lượng. Cần có một khung lý thuyết phù hợp để giải thích mối liên hệ giữa từ vựng màu sắc, tư duy tri nhận và văn hóa một cách toàn diện. Theo Nguyễn Khánh Hà (1995), có mối liên hệ song song giữa biểu thức ngôn ngữ và đặc trưng văn hóa dân tộc.

2.1. Sự Khác Biệt Văn Hóa Trong Tri Giác Màu Sắc

Chevalier và Gheerbrant (1997) cũng như Wierzbicka (2006) đã cung cấp kiến thức về vai trò của văn hóa trong hệ thống biểu tượng màu sắc quốc tế đa dạng trên thế giới. Tri giác màu sắc chịu ảnh hưởng sâu sắc bởi yếu tố văn hóa. Ý nghĩa màu sắc tiếng Anh và ý nghĩa màu sắc tiếng Việt có thể khác nhau do sự khác biệt về lịch sử, tín ngưỡng và phong tục tập quán. Nghiên cứu cần làm rõ những khác biệt này để có được cái nhìn toàn diện về khái niệm màu sắc.

2.2. Tiếp Cận Liên Ngành Trong Phân Tích Ý Nghĩa Màu Sắc

Phân tích ý nghĩa màu sắc đòi hỏi sự kết hợp kiến thức từ nhiều lĩnh vực như ngôn ngữ học, tâm lý học, văn hóa học và ngôn ngữ học tri nhận. Việc áp dụng các phương pháp nghiên cứu liên ngành giúp khám phá những khía cạnh phức tạp của khái niệm màu sắc và mối liên hệ giữa từ vựng màu sắc và tư duy tri nhận của con người.

III. Phương Pháp Phân Tích Ngôn Ngữ Học Tri Nhận Màu Sắc Cơ Bản

Nghiên cứu này sử dụng phương pháp kết hợp (mixed methods) để phân tích khái niệm màu sắc. Dữ liệu được thu thập từ các tác phẩm văn học tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt, sử dụng cấu trúc so sánh: "as + màu cơ bản tiếng Anh + as/như + đối tượng tham chiếu X" và "màu cơ bản tiếng Việt + như + đối tượng tham chiếu X". Phương pháp định lượng được sử dụng để xác định tần suất xuất hiện của từng đối tượng tham chiếu. Phương pháp định tính được sử dụng để phân tích các đặc điểm khu biệt và giải thích ý nghĩa văn hóa, tri nhận của các đối tượng tham chiếu. Phương pháp so sánh đối chiếu được sử dụng để so sánh các nguyên mẫu và các đặc điểm liên quan. Các nghiên cứu của Rivers (1897), Brown và Lenneberg (1954), Berlin và Kay (1969), Heider (1971, 1972), Rosch (1973, 1974, 1975) chỉ ra rằng phạm trù màu sắc nên được thể hiện trong nhận thức dưới dạng prototypes.

3.1. Thu Thập Dữ Liệu và Phân Loại Đối Tượng Tham Chiếu

Dữ liệu được thu thập từ các tác phẩm văn học tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt. Các đối tượng tham chiếu của từng màu cơ bản được xác định và phân loại thành các lớp (classes) và các phạm trù (categories) dựa trên các đặc điểm chung. Việc phân loại này giúp hệ thống hóa dữ liệu và tạo cơ sở cho việc phân tích prototypes.

3.2. Xác Định Prototypes của Màu Cơ Bản Trong Anh và Việt

Dựa trên tần suất xuất hiện và các đặc điểm ngữ nghĩa, văn hóa, tri nhận, các prototypes của từng màu cơ bản được xác định. Prototypes được hiểu là đối tượng tham chiếu tiêu biểu nhất, đại diện cho phạm trù màu sắc đó. Ví dụ, trong tiếng Anh, "night" có thể là prototype của "black", trong khi trong tiếng Việt, "mực" có thể là prototype của "đen".

IV. So Sánh Prototypes và Biểu Tượng Màu Sắc Anh Việt

Nghiên cứu so sánh các prototypes của màu cơ bản trong tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt, chỉ ra những điểm tương đồng và khác biệt. Sự khác biệt có thể xuất phát từ yếu tố văn hóa, lịch sử và địa lý. Ví dụ, "snow" là prototype của "white" trong tiếng Anh, trong khi "ngà" có thể là prototype của "trắng" trong tiếng Việt. Sự khác biệt này phản ánh sự khác biệt về môi trường sống và văn hóa. Trần Thị Lan (2001), Lê Văn Thanh (2014); Hoàng Tuyết Minh và Nguyễn Văn Quang (2015) xác định được mối liên hệ giữa prototypes của một màu cơ bản và các đối tượng liên quan trong cuộc sống hàng ngày, gần gũi với văn hóa và nhận thức của các thành viên cộng đồng.

4.1. Phân Tích Biểu Tượng Màu Sắc Dưới Góc Độ Văn Hóa

Biểu tượng màu sắc tiếng Anh và biểu tượng màu sắc tiếng Việt được phân tích dưới góc độ văn hóa, lịch sử và xã hội. Nghiên cứu chỉ ra cách màu sắc được sử dụng để thể hiện các giá trị, niềm tin và cảm xúc trong mỗi nền văn hóa. Ví dụ, màu đỏ có thể tượng trưng cho sự may mắn và thịnh vượng trong văn hóa Việt Nam, trong khi màu đỏ có thể tượng trưng cho sự nguy hiểm và giận dữ trong văn hóa phương Tây.

4.2. Linguistic Relativity và Ảnh Hưởng Đến Phân Loại Màu Sắc

Nghiên cứu xem xét ảnh hưởng của linguistic relativity color (thuyết tương đối ngôn ngữ) đến phân loại màu sắc trong tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt. Liệu ngôn ngữ có ảnh hưởng đến cách chúng ta tri nhận và phân loại màu sắc? Nghiên cứu tìm kiếm bằng chứng cho thấy sự khác biệt về từ vựng màu sắc có thể dẫn đến sự khác biệt về tri giác màu sắc. Một số nhà nghiên cứu tập trung vào một màu cơ bản duy nhất hoặc một số màu cơ bản cụ thể trong một ngôn ngữ.

V. Ứng Dụng và Kết Quả Ý Nghĩa Màu Sắc Trong Dịch Thuật

Nghiên cứu cung cấp những hiểu biết sâu sắc về ý nghĩa màu sắc tiếng Anh và ý nghĩa màu sắc tiếng Việt, có giá trị ứng dụng trong nhiều lĩnh vực như dịch thuật, giảng dạy ngôn ngữ và giao tiếp đa văn hóa. Hiểu rõ prototypes và biểu tượng màu sắc giúp người học dịch và diễn giải chính xác các thành ngữ, tục ngữ và các biểu đạt ngôn ngữ liên quan đến màu sắc. Các kết quả từ nghiên cứu có thể cung cấp thông tin đáng tin cậy liên quan đến prototypes của màu cơ bản trong tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt, kèm theo giải thích dễ hiểu về đặc điểm văn hóa và nhận thức của cộng đồng Anh và Việt.

5.1. Dịch Thuật và Diễn Giải Chính Xác Thành Ngữ Màu Sắc

Việc dịch thuật các thành ngữ liên quan đến màu sắc đòi hỏi sự nhạy bén về văn hóa và ngôn ngữ. Ví dụ, thành ngữ "feeling blue" trong tiếng Anh không thể dịch đơn giản là "cảm thấy xanh" sang tiếng Việt. Người dịch cần hiểu ý nghĩa của màu sắc trong ngữ cảnh cụ thể để tìm ra cách diễn đạt tương đương phù hợp.

5.2. Giao Tiếp Đa Văn Hóa và Tránh Hiểu Lầm Về Màu Sắc

Trong giao tiếp đa văn hóa, hiểu lầm về màu sắc có thể dẫn đến những tình huống khó xử. Ví dụ, mặc đồ trắng đến dự đám tang ở Việt Nam là điều không phù hợp, vì màu trắng thường tượng trưng cho sự tang tóc. Việc trang bị kiến thức về ý nghĩa màu sắc trong các nền văn hóa khác nhau giúp tránh những sai sót không đáng có.

VI. Kết Luận và Hướng Nghiên Cứu Tương Lai Về Màu Sắc

Nghiên cứu này đã khám phá khái niệm màu cơ bản trong tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt từ góc độ ngôn ngữ học tri nhận, chỉ ra những tương đồng và khác biệt trong cách màu sắc được tri nhận và sử dụng. Kết quả nghiên cứu có ý nghĩa lý luận và thực tiễn, góp phần làm phong phú thêm kiến thức về ngôn ngữ học tri nhận và cung cấp công cụ hữu ích cho việc học tập và giảng dạy ngôn ngữ. Nghiên cứu sâu hơn về color categorization in English và color categorization in Vietnamese (phân loại màu sắc) sẽ rất hữu ích.

6.1. Mở Rộng Phạm Vi Nghiên Cứu Sang Các Màu Sắc Phức Tạp Hơn

Nghiên cứu trong tương lai có thể mở rộng phạm vi sang các màu sắc phức tạp hơn như nâu, tím, hồng, cam. Việc phân tích các màu sắc này sẽ giúp có được cái nhìn toàn diện hơn về hệ thống màu sắc trong tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt.

6.2. Nghiên Cứu Ảnh Hưởng Của Basic color terms English và Basic color terms Vietnamese Lên Tư Duy

Nghiên cứu có thể tập trung vào việc tìm hiểu ảnh hưởng của basic color terms English (thuật ngữ màu cơ bản tiếng Anh) và basic color terms Vietnamese (thuật ngữ màu cơ bản tiếng Việt) đến tư duy và nhận thức của người bản ngữ. Liệu ngôn ngữ có thực sự định hình cách chúng ta nhìn nhận thế giới?

Signature NGUYỄN ĐÔNG PHƢƠNG TIÊN i ABSTRACT This dissertation, with the aim of identifying the prototypes of black/đen, white/trắng, red/đỏ, yellow/vàng, green/blue/xanh, grey/xám colour terms, attempts to clarify the similarities and the differences among the prototypes of basic colour terms in English and Vietnamese data with further explanations from cognitive and cultural perspectives. Data is collected with as + basic colour terms + as/như + object referent X structure in English and Vietnamese data from literary works. Combined research methods are adopted in the following means: percentage identification of individual object referent is based on quantitative method whereas further explanations concerning distinctive features depend on qualitative method as well as the similarities and the differences among these prototypes count on contrastive method. The findings show: night as prototype of black colour term, snow as prototype of white colour term, blood and rose as two prototypes of red colour term, corn as prototype of yellow colour term, emerald as prototype of green colour term, sapphire as prototype of blue colour term, badger as prototype of grey colour term, mực as prototype of đen colour term, ngà as prototype of trắng colour term, son as prototype of đỏ colour term, nghệ as prototype of vàng colour term, tàu lá as prototype of xanh colour term, tro/gio as prototype of xám colour term.

Theoretically, this dissertation provides comprehensible explanations of cultural and cognitive characteristics of English and Vietnamese nations. Practically, the study results are helpful for English and Vietnamese learners in translating or interpreting these prototypes correctly from cultural and cognitive viewpoints. Profound knowledge of English and Vietnamese linguistic systems is beneficial for language learners for a more detailed description of the similarities and the differences. Last but not least, native readers or speakers understand the similarities and distinguish the differences for the appropriate daily usage.

Rationale The view on this diverse world results in different colour pictures, which clearly reflects the distinctive values in cognition and culture of one nation itself.

In other words, colour terms, besides the usual daily semantically expressive viewpoint, should be explored from deeper cognitive views underneath (Vũ Phương Anh, 2011) so as to explore the connections between one colour term and the equivalent prototypes in human beings‘ cognition. In the world, the issue of colour terms has been studied from various research aspects as follows: In terms of lexical aspect, the role of culture has been emphasized in researching colour terminologies, rather than researching colour terminologies in separation. Studies by Geiger (1869); Conklin (1955); Lakoff (1987); Kay & Maffi (1999) have influenced this current dissertation since cultural element used to be ignored in considering the connection between colour terminologies and their usage. In Vietnamese, Trịnh Thị Minh Hương (1999) paid more attention to lexical aspect, mainly towards one colour term or some basic colour terms in Vietnamese language.

Regarding semantic viewpoint, Kövecses (1986) and Lucy (1992) lay the foundation in which colour prototypes should be performed based on the semantic features of colour category. In Việt Nam, Hoàng Văn Hành (1982), Nguyễn Hoàng Phương Linh (2014) and Lê Phương Thảo (2018) compare and contrast the semantic values and meanings between colour terms in Vietnamese and English. Concerning culture factor, Chevalier and Gheerbrant (1997) as well as Wierzbicka (2006) provide knowledge about the role of culture in the diverse international system of colour symbols around the world. Nguyễn Khánh Hà (1995) confirms the existence of the parallel connection between one particular linguistic 1 expression (a lexical word unit) and its associated typical cultural national characteristics.

In respect of cognitive viewpoint, this research direction has been increasingly popular and widely applied.
